A 26-year-old mother in Burnley England has been charged to court
for committing murder, she was alleged to have killed her infant baby.
Rachel Tuntill 26, stabbed her newborn daughter to death with a pair of kitchen scissors because of the fear of losing her job.
Sun online reported that Rachel Tunstill dumped her newborn’s
remain in a waste bin after reportedly stabbing her several times with
scissors at the flat she shared with Ryan Kelly, her boyfriend.
Rachel had lied to Ryan Kelly that she was having another
miscarriage just as she had before and then requesting for a pair of
scissors which Kelly handed to her.
Tunstill, who holds a degree in psychology and masters in forensic
psychology, told Ryan she didn’t need medical attention during the
three-hour-long event.
Prosecutor Louise Blackwell narrates to the court that: “On January 14,
the defendant had been at work at Benjamin House. She had gone home
that evening and then in the bathroom, she had given birth to Mia Kelly –
there Mia Kelly met her death.”
During a meeting Tunstill had with her boss in March 2016 at the
care home, Tunstill became upset and admitted she was suffering from
stomach pains. Her boss who guessed she might possibly be pregnant said
if she was, she might not be able to hold the job she was then holding
due to the demand of her work in the mental health facility.
Prosecuting counsel, Louise Blackwell alleged that the miscarriages
were a cause of Ms. Tunstill who wanted to climb the career ladder
without considering her maternal status.
