The 8th Senate is currently celebrating its second year anniversary with a special valedictory session.
''Today is an historic day for many reasons, we are 2 years on this saddle, and it's been 2 years of productive legislation,'' Senate President Bukola Saraki said in his speech at the session.
''When we started i knew the 8th Senate will be significantly different irrespective of our unending barriers to make laws for the peace and good governance of the Federation which we have done.''
"96 Bills passed in 2years, it's not just the no of Bills passed but the impact of these Bills"
Still speaking, Saraki said, ''first ever Senate to hold a public hearing on the 2017 budget& laid details at the same time, this has not been done since 1999.''
"We promised to pass the economic reform Bills and we have done that"
"We've opened our activities to the world by being the first to adopt live streaming, we've become the most open arm of government"
"Everyone of you (colleagues) deserve to be singled out and thanked for your sacrifices, commitment and steadfastness"
"We have dedicated our time to what is most useful to Nigerians".
"I commend you my colleagues for your maturity, patriotism and statesmanship on the job"
The Senate President went oon to talk the various senate committees, Deputy senate President Ike Ekweremadu and acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
